The Moken

Were we ever fortunate! Wicked diving (our guide company on the Surin Islands) has an excellent relationship with the indigenous peoples of the Surin Islands. The Moken are also known as the sea gypsies and have nomadically lived on the seas in the Andaman sea for centuries. Our primary guide, Nin, was exceptional for his local knowledge and abilities. So much I could say about our time among the Moken, but this may be told through our collection of related photos.

As for the highlights to our two days exploring with the Moken would be; our arrival to the village, the view of the vilage from the nature walk, the ride on the kabang (traditional Moken boat), and our time with the guides and longboat captain.
