For Lucas and Kai these were the highlights of the creatures that we saw;
- We liked to see the lizards because they moved fast and they were different colours. Seeing a real live monitor lizard was very surprising as they look so big in real life.
- We also heard a lot of different birds but none of them stayed still long enough for us to take any photographs. The sounds they make are very beautiful and it is really great when you get to see them.
- We saw A LOT of dogs in Thailand! Most of them were really scared cats because they barked a lot, but when you got close they skulked away slowly. Our favorite dog on the whole trip was our friend Momem and the little puppy on our walk around Mae Rim.
- We also saw A LOT of bugs. All kinds of bugs, big ones, small ones, green ones, black ones, brown ones, ones with long noses, ones with tiny noses, scary looking ones, ones that bit us, ones that stung us, ones that jumped on us, ones that pooped on us, and ones that crawled on us while we slept.
- We saw many skinny cats, and they looked hungry all the time. We had fun petting the soft happy cats, but some of them tried to scratch us.
- We also saw big fish. We saw them in fish ponds, we saw them in the moat around old Chiang Mai, we fed fish slices of bread, when we went to the catfish pond where the water boiled with so many fish and Mommy and Daddy ate fish.
- We saw a lot of water buffalo poop, and man is it big! We sure are glad we didn't step or slip in any. The water buffalo are really big and do a lot of work in the rice fields. Water buffalo are good for working in the rice patties cause they don't easily get hoof rot.
- When we went on a boat trip we saw some bats sleeping on the edge of the cliff. They were hanging upside down. They were really big and kind of scary.
- The crabs were really fast and hard to catch. So we ran as fast as we could to catch them. One trick is to throw sand on top of them and then pick them up, another is to chase them around and catch them.
- We saw lots of monkeys, they are very fuzzy and they like to swing and jump around. We saw a baby monkey with its whole tribe when driving around on Koh Lanta.
- Everywhere we went we saw geckos. They like to catch bugs by hanging around lights and gobbling them up when they get to close.
- And of course we went to the Chiang Mai zoo and saw many big animals. They had a great collection of lions and tigers and so many monkeys and crocodiles. We had a great time in the zoo.
